February 1, 2024 Tauranga, New Zealand Day 43 of 138

We sailed through the night to arrive a day early to Tauranga, New Zealand. We could see islands around 10 am, and more activity and land masses closer to noon. Mike caught the sunrise this morning.

These are pictures as we entered the port.

We were able to disembark close to 1 pm. There are 6 of us that are trying to set up a tour to Hobbiton. It is the movie set used in all three of the Hobbit movies. It usually is an all day tour, and it was sold out today. So like good travelers we go to plan B. We all walked the island or downtown. Our area has beaches on both sides which are separated by a couple of blocks at one end and about 1/3 of a mile at the other end. The area is pristine, and the people are so friendly.

Looks like they are setting up for a Volleyball tournament. The sand is pretty, very white and soft.

The beaches were busy, there were many surfing businesses offering to rent equipment, or teaching you surfing.

While I was getting this picture of a War Memorial, Mike was getting this picture to send to his friend Dave, at least that is what he told me. Hmmm

I love all the little personal touches, and attention to detail. This is not a real fish, but a reminder that this will send water directly back to the ocean.
This is not the main downtown, but they have a great shopping area. It has many little dress shops, restaurants, pubs, and Pharmacies. They keep track of cruise ships schedules, and were surprised and happy that we arrived a day early. Anyone who has been following my drama of the missing skort, I have found a skirt, and a dress, so I am sure Mike is thankful that we can stop the search. We are loving New Zealand.
