January 1, 2024 Sea Day 5

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today we slept in to recover from our late night festivities. They have a brunch planned for us today at 10, but if anyone knows me they know that I get up and I want breakfast, so we had a light breakfast before the brunch began. I grabbed some pictures of the brunch as it opened up. It was a poplar place most of the time it was opened.

They have ice sculptures, watermelons were carved works of art, and the bread was decorated. I think the kitchen staff worked all night preparing this for us. Everything looked good enough to eat, but really folks no one should or could try one of everything.
We laid out in the sun early today and almost missed the noon trivia. Our group had already replaced us, so we were on our own. a couple sat with us and they did not intend to play trivia, but ended up being very helpful. Final tally about in the middle of the teams.

We did not see these dolphins ourselves, but this was taken from a fellow travelers balcony around 1 pm today. I have been looking and not seen anything, so I hope to catch some myself during this trip.
I promised some pictures from the Nordic Spa. So I warmed up in the hot tub, then did the bucket dump. The water is more cool than cold.

Then it was back to the hot tub to warm back up. Next I was off to the snow room where it is -14 degrees. Today because we were trying to get pictures, and Mike was my photographer, and didn't plan to partake. I was hurrying between options. The snow room is hard to get a photo, as when you put a warm body in the cold room it becomes foggy. Just opening the door and letting in warmer air causes fog. So our option was to take a picture of me at the door. You can see the snow to the side of me.

Now it is back to the pool, which is like tepid bath water. They have waves in it, which I did not turn on. When it was on and I tried to swim to the other side I didn't make much progress, as I was swimming against the current.
Tonight when we arrived to our room our Viking Daily was on our bed as usual. I noted that they are having a Bourbon tasting at 7:30 tomorrow evening. We stopped everything and ran downstairs to make sure Mike got signed up. It was a good thing, as there were only 2 spots left. So now I have given you a peek at what will be in our blog tomorrow. We will let you know his favorite.

We caught tonight's sunset. We had a date with our computer, as Our daughter in law Katie planned a video call for 7:30 our time. We got to see Katie and Harper while she was finishing eating dinner. She is a good eater, and quite entertaining. We got kisses blown to us, heard her saying her words, and got to see some of her Christmas presents. Eric got home just before we signed off. It was a great end to the day. Thanks Katie.

Tonight we fall back 1 hour, so will be on Mountain time, and only 1 hour behind our family in Pacific time.
