January 2, 2024 Sea day 6
Good Morning from the Pacific Ocean, our ship is about to Acapulco, Mexico. I was up when this was taken, but from our cabin, it didn't look like it would be an interesting sun rise. You can imagine how disappointed I was when I saw a fellow traveler's post of the picture above, so I grabbed it to show you.
We did our normal walk, and it was pleasant. The temperature is only going to be around 79 degrees today, and the humidity is much less then before we got on to the Pacific Ocean. I have found I am a moderate temperature walker. While walking we did see some dolphins, they were much smaller than expected, and I saw a whale spout. Pretty exciting, and my phone stayed in my pocket as it all happened very fast. We followed our walk with some time in the gym, so this is a gold star day.
Trivia at noon is suppose to be the easier questions. I thought I would share some of them for you.
The DaVinci Code opens with a murder in which museum?
What is the dress code for Wimbledon?
What kind of dog is Scooby Do?
We did ok with 10 of 15 questions. There is always the trivia on the next sea day.
When we walked into dinner this was our view.
Nice ending to our day. Dinner was amazing, Mike had Blackened Halibut, and I got a Szechuan style Beef Tenderloin. Our waiter said my dinner was mild a 3-4 out of 10 on the heat scale. I would have put it at 5. Great flavor. We both ordered a brownie with chocolate mousse on top. It tasted as good as it looks.Following dinner, Mike was scheduled for a Bourbon tasting. He was one of only 20. They tasted Buffalo Trace, Woodford Reserve, Jack Daniel's Sinatra, and something cheap he didn't like. He and most of the participants thought Buffalo Trace won hands down. They only have Buffalo Trace for tastings, not available for everyone. The fellow sitting next to Mike showed him a picture of his Bourbon collection. It is better than any New York bar. If you know Bourbon, he had an Elmer T, and a 1 millionth bottle of Maker's Mark, it is identified by the red wax half way down the bottle.
Our trivia partner today let me know that I could request a magnified mirror. I made the request this afternoon and tonight I have a mirror in our cabin. It is really helpful for these old eyes.
Tomorrow we will arrive in Cabo. We are all looking forward to getting back on land.
