April 12, 2024 Sea Day 23 days left of 138
Today is 115 days on this journey. This has been a normal sea day with trivia twice and us finishing in the middle of the pack.
Mike walked 5 miles and I walked 1.4 miles. It was a beautiful day to walk as it was not to hot, and the wind wasn't blowing us over the rail. LOL
We came back to our room and found Viking has provided us with an elephant key chain and a card to celebrate us visiting Africa. It also contained a quote from Nelson Mandela "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others." We found this profound and touching. Mike and I feel that this is how we try to live our lives, and what a better place it would be if we all live these words.
Tonight we enjoyed a gathering to celebrate our 83% of the guests that have sailed with Viking in the past. It is a time to celebrate this amazing company that we are sailing with. We are a proud part of...
Our Viking vocalists sang for us. We just love to see them perform. After 115 days we feel like they are our kids.We ended the night talking as a group with one of our speakers from Scotland. It was an eye opening discussion. We were able to discuss between ourselves politics, families, the world at large, and how to leave some words of wisdom for the next generation. This gentleman is well spoken, well traveled, and speaks of global issues from his personal life experiences. Here he is talking about issues in his country as well as ours as he sees them from his experience. It was a thought provoking evening.Anyone of you who are paying attention today we passed the 12,000 views of this blog. I hope everyone leaves with a sense of wonder about the world around us.
