April 20, 2024 Sea Day, 15 days left of 138
This was a difficult morning to get up and face the day. We jumped an hour ahead last night. I like gaining an hour much better rather than losing an hour. This morning our friend and one of the speakers for the ship Gavin was at the Cruise Director's morning chat. He gave a brief overview of his life and some of what he has accomplished in his life. He is self made, taking some correspondent courses, and life lessons and making a very successful career in sea transportation.
Just for your information, Gavin who has held some pretty impressive positions in the private and public sector told us he currently gets $1,000 pounds monthly from his government to help support retirement. That amounts to $1,237.00. I think he speaks to be able to travel, and be able to afford to live. He seems he is as busy as he wants. He is an interesting speaker we have enjoyed attending his lectures, and getting to know him personally.
This is a picture of the Ever Given it was the ship that was stuck in the Suez Canal for a week in March 2021. It is one of the largest container ships ever built. This is a picture as we crossed paths today. Our Captain alerted us to their position, so we could get a picture.
Tonight Mike decided to dress in his new African shirt. Our friends were giving him a hard time, but Mike is happy, and says it is very comfortable. I love the colors.
