January 17, 2024 Sea day Day 29 or 138

Today is a big day. We are crossing the Equator, so at 10 am we have the Equator Crossing Ceremony. The first ones up are all the staff that are crossing the equator for the first time. Since the Pacific is cold, they had at least 6 huge bags of ice they dumped into the hot tub that had not been heated over night. Can you see the ice in the hot tub?

They call up the polliwogs by groups, they were suppose to kiss or salute the fish, their crimes were announced, silly things like the vocalist who work the least hours, our cabin attendants who made the beds so tight the travelers were unable to get out of their beds. The captain and lead staff then voted if they lived or died. Of course they all lived, but had to dunk in the ice water. It is all good fun.

If you notice the staff are wearing all or part of their uniforms.

Now it was our turn. There were lines of guests ready to get into the pool or icy hot tub, that was not so hot. We had friends that did it with us, and others that stayed dry and held our things and took our pictures. It is good to have friends. We are all now shellbacks.

Marilyn and Mike kissing the fish before the plunge.
I should have pictures of our plunge, but tonight I can't find them. I will post when I find the folder. We did get a certificate. It was on our bed when we arrived home this evening after the entertainment.
We dried off in the sun, and then I am off. I have a photography workshop, and Mike is spending a little more time in the sun. We will meet for noon Trivia with our group.

This is tonight's sunset following dinner. When we returned to our room after the entertainment I checked out the night sky, and the stars were amazing.

This is tonight's entertainment. He did a great job, and we hear that we will see him again soon.
It was a great ending to the evening.
